You Le Yuen, your home away from home.
Discover the real Penang and experience a truly personal and home-like cultural heritage living at our charming boutique bed & breakfast. Located on quaint and pleasant Love Lane, You Le Yuen will serve as your sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the busy main streets during your sojourn in Penang.
We are housed in a 2-storey colonial pre-war shop-house that has been painstakingly restored to its former glory. We have four individually decorated suites, each of which are furnished with Peranakan and mid-century art décor furniture from our private collection. All suites have timbre louvered windows which opens either out onto Love Lane or into our indoor courtyard. Selected suites also have a private terrace which looks over the indoor courtyard, which makes it an ideal spot to lounge in the privacy of your own suite.
Love Lane, which is situated within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of George Town, is surrounded by beautifully restored and historical buildings. We are conveniently located a stone’s throw away from Cheung Fatt Tze Mansion, Little India, Fort Cornwallis, and The Goddess of Mercy temple, allowing you to experience and immerse your senses in olden day living as you connect with the diverse cultures and heritage in the surrounding area. As we are situated in the heart of George Town, you will be able to effortlessly discover the unique heritage of Penang through the architecture, festivities and food – which is ultimately a union of cultural elements from elsewhere in this Malay Archipelago, India and China and Europe.
When you’re too lazy to venture out to scour the streets for food, our specially designed menu will provide the ideal in-house dining alternative. Serving light tapas, aromatic soups and other heartier fare – our home-cooked style comfort foods will surely satisfy your hunger pangs. You may also wish to engage in a unique dining experience offered by our “Private Kitchen”. After you’re thoroughly nourished, you may opt to lounge in our breezy and naturally lit indoor courtyard café with that book you’ve been putting off to read, or just delightfully idle on your private terrace with a hot or cool beverage.
You Le Yuen takes its name from a combination of the Chinese characters for “teak”, “wood” and “paradise”. It was largely built using timbre and furnished with teak furniture. With its therapeutic water features and cosy indoor courtyard, this little oasis in the heart of Georgetown, is the idyllic haven you seek.
